Every January, Joe Bardenheier accompanies his father Joe Bardenheier III, and two other U.S. based doctors, for two weeks to India to reopen a mission hospital left by the British in the 1900’s. Free Surgical Camp, as it is known by the locals, is dedicated to “Changing Lives, One Person at a Time.” Last year, in that short two-week period, the team conducted over 935 examinations and close to 300 surgeries for the poorest of the poor. Joe Jr. organizes the patient examination process, assists in the OR and also does a great deal of fundraising — helping the group to acquire a new operating room and much needed equipment while managing the website he built, freesurgicalcamp.com, on FatCow, an Endurance International Group brand.
